Spring flowers

The crocus's have arrived

to add their elegant, fragile beauty...

...like a carpet this year!

never before have we seen them
so abundant....

our handsome boy 'OZ'

the entire high country covered
...a bit hard to see through
the long grass cover

a few of our resident mule deer

a Crocus Explosion!

and for all you bird lovers out there....
our season is well  under way!

this is how we began at 1 day old..
(meat birds)

we have grown a bit in 8 weeks?
almost ready for KFC!

these photos for Steph and Alaine...
thought you girls might be missing them!

turkeys and laying hen replacements
at one month....off lights but can't
go outside just yet...pen still flooded!

Strutting our stuff!( for Lynn!)

the old girls..dutifully keeping us in eggs.

Easter Weekend 2011

Happy Easter Everyone!
The weather has finally warmed-up,
most of the snow has melted,
and the grass is starting to turn green again.

Nice enough to be out!...and

Learning about electric fence!

Water is starting to recede ...slightly...

Filly enjoying the sun!

OOOO....an itch!

Bay? always seems to be the one to get into trouble!

A view from pasture hills, smoke in distance
our yard..burning some old bales.

An unusual evening's entertainment...
able to canoe over two fence lines.

Jasmine and Jacob, a canoe..
and just a little water!

Checking the main herd..... by canoe

Back to Kira's Willow.....
notice the dark shapes (horses)
coming along the tree line.

they followed the canoe across the water
.....a breathe taking sight!

Spring Melt

Spring is finally here and the melt has begun...these photos were taken on April 9th, just prior to a blizzard that night that dumped another 1 1/2 to 2 feet of wet heavy snow...Typical weather for foals and calving!!

Dugout filled and overflowing!

Our own little 'babbling brook'

Right through chicken/turkey pens....

Nearly flooded the turkey coop...

Much deeper than it looks.....
actually almost to top of our boots,

and the current is so strong,
it nearly knocks you off your feet!

All corrals flooded...

Sheds and pens all under water...
so we are moving stock out to higher ground

Slough around yard site is up to the barn!
(And still rising)

Kira's Willow Tree in water.

Everywhere we look....nothing but water!
....and the melt has just begun!

On our way back from checking the herd,
Jasmine found a good use for all the snow...
Better watch out DAD!(taking picture)

SPRING IS COMMING SOON!

Can't we please go out to play?
Who could resist those eyes!
It feels like spring is just around the corner..was a balmy +4C on Sat. Feb. 12th.  The puppies enjoyed getting out and about, and playing in the snow!

Jasmine and the crew....notice the nice manners!

Digging out the trailer....just in case, as calving is soon to start.

"Need help?  are we moving cows?"
Oz is ever ready to assist!

Some of the girls, hanging out around the feeder and enjoying the break from the cold, nasty weather.

STAGE CENTER: HUDINI
(paint gelding) as usual, living up to his name..you never know where you may find him! Maybe with the girls....or maybe out in the stacks of hay...or maybe just checking everything out around the ranch...on security patrol...a job he takes pretty serious! Nothing gets by him!...and he gets out of anything and everything!!

Mike moving snow, and MORE SNOW!

Pups playing in the snow with mom.
Hugs and Kisses!
A Gold Willow Ranch style Heart....can you see it?

I have my eye on you....til we see you next time!
