2011 Wood Mountain Wagon Train (July 3rd to 8th)

Our base camp was nestled in a
valley just South of Rockglen, SK
in a pasture owned by Warren Spagrud.

where grazing was plentiful...
(Saddie and Willow)

and the scenery was stunning!

The weather was nice and warm....
with gentle breezes to keep most bugs at bay

skies were blue..and you could see for miles
from many hilltops...

taking a short break to rest the teams
and enjoy each others company...
there were about 8 wagons and
50 to 70 riders attending this year.

Jake visited one evening,
and went for a little hill climbing with Jasmine.

and the same hill....(no zoom)
can you see the two small dots?

On several days, a bunch of us
rode into Rockglen for ice cream!
Albert Hansen (center) even came along one day.
Our Thanks to the ice cream man...
Clint Anderson (on foot)
who so generously bought the treats!

We even had our own little parking lot!

On the last day, several of the youngsters
took a refreshing dip in the pond
at the old boyscouts' camp
...and so did Jasmine and Willow!
.... encouraging another four-legged
friend to join the fun of swimming
...ok...that's enough!  I'm out of here!
the wagons sit, unhitched at the end of another day

getting ready to go visiting under the
big top, and enjoy the evening campfire...
along with music, poetry, and cowboy tales.

So the close comes to another wonderful day....
and then, too soon, this year's ride is over,
and it's time to say farewell to friends,
old and new...until next year!
