Easter Weekend 2011

Happy Easter Everyone!
The weather has finally warmed-up,
most of the snow has melted,
and the grass is starting to turn green again.

Nice enough to be out!...and

Learning about electric fence!

Water is starting to recede ...slightly...

Filly enjoying the sun!

OOOO....an itch!

Bay? always seems to be the one to get into trouble!

A view from pasture hills, smoke in distance
our yard..burning some old bales.

An unusual evening's entertainment...
able to canoe over two fence lines.

Jasmine and Jacob, a canoe..
and just a little water!

Checking the main herd..... by canoe

Back to Kira's Willow.....
notice the dark shapes (horses)
coming along the tree line.

they followed the canoe across the water
.....a breathe taking sight!

Spring Melt

Spring is finally here and the melt has begun...these photos were taken on April 9th, just prior to a blizzard that night that dumped another 1 1/2 to 2 feet of wet heavy snow...Typical weather for foals and calving!!

Dugout filled and overflowing!

Our own little 'babbling brook'

Right through chicken/turkey pens....

Nearly flooded the turkey coop...

Much deeper than it looks.....
actually almost to top of our boots,

and the current is so strong,
it nearly knocks you off your feet!

All corrals flooded...

Sheds and pens all under water...
so we are moving stock out to higher ground

Slough around yard site is up to the barn!
(And still rising)

Kira's Willow Tree in water.

Everywhere we look....nothing but water!
....and the melt has just begun!

On our way back from checking the herd,
Jasmine found a good use for all the snow...
Better watch out DAD!(taking picture)
